Bonnie Raitt and her band are returning home to California for a run of dates crossing the state with a stop in Reno, NV.  The tour will visit iconic west coast venues including the Theatre at Bill Graham Civic Auditorium, hosting Raitt’s first headlining show within the San Francisco city limits in several years; the beautiful waterfront Rady Shell at Jacobs Park in San Diego, where she last played in 2022, and finally the historic Hollywood Pantages Theatre, her long-awaited return to the venue in nearly 30 years, for a two-night stand that will cap the run. Raitt shares,  “I’m thrilled to have Jon Cleary & The Absolute Monster Gentlemen as my Special Guests on this tour. Jon is one of my favorite musicians and a former longtime bandmate. I can’t wait to hear him with his killer band every night and then sit in with us on several songs in our set. Big fun for us all. Come on down!”

Singer, pianist, composer, bandleader and three-time GRAMMY®-winner Bruce Hornsby has released “Ecstatic,” the second single from his forthcoming album, Indigo Park, arriving April 3rd on Zappo Productions/Thirty Tigers. Inspired by a spirited chant he heard for many years as an AAU basketball parent, “Ecstatic” features notable backing vocals from Bonnie Raitt, with whom Hornsby first collaborated on Raitt’s 1991 hit, “I Can’t Make You Love Me.” A longtime basketball player and a passionate follower of the game, Hornsby recruited members of the LSU Tigers Women’s Basketball Team to appear in the “Ecstatic” music video, filmed on-campus at Louisiana State University.

I am deeply saddened to hear of the passing of my friend and inspiration, John Hammond, Jr. From the first time I heard him on the first blues album I bought, Blues at Newport ‘63 on Vanguard Records, I was just knocked out and have felt that way about him ever since. He was the inspiration for teaching myself blues guitar and learning how to sing these songs we loved so much. He made it cool and all right.

Not only was he a virtuoso on guitar, harp, singing and choosing songs, to me it felt like he was totally possessed by the blues. I’ve never witnessed anyone as swept up and away as John playing his music live.

I’m so grateful for our many years of friendship, being able to hang with so many blues greats, and best of all, that in his wife Marla, he found such a fun and abiding soulmate. Thank you Marla, for taking such great care of John, especially these last few years. I send my deepest condolences to you and all your family at this difficult time.

Rest in peace, dear John. You can be assured your monumental legacy will live on forever.

So sorry to hear of Bobby’s passing. He was a true inspiration and shining light, both musically and for how he used his gifts to make the world better. I’m so grateful for our friendship and getting to collaborate both onstage and for causes we care so much about. He was one of the most unique and inventive guitarists I’ve known and I love that he was always stretching, always reinventing and always cutting right through to the mighty core.

I send my deepest condolences to Natascha, Chloe, Monet and the extended Grateful Dead family and community. Bobby will be sorely missed, always treasured and never, ever fade away…
