NY Post -- Some Bonnie good rock & blues

WITH her first new album in seven years, Bonnie Raitt slips into a few different styles without straying far from the familiar. And that’s not a bad thing.

Raitt — whose slide-guitar work would fit right in on a Mississippi Delta front porch or an Allman Brothers jam — grabs our attention right on the opening track, with a funk number, “Used To Rule the World.” Starting with guitar licks that recall the intro to Earth Wind & Fire’s “Shining Star,” the singer comes in with her signature drawl, in which words such as “mystified” come out mystifahd. For some added soul, she throws in a Hammond B-3 organ — which we thankfully hear on a few other songs, as well — and we’re good. (Continued...)
